How do we do in Agandi ?
Energy management

-
We maximize the use of renewable energies like solar and we use energy efficient equipment.

-
Visitors will find renewable electricity for their personal electric devices.

-
We use improved cook-stoves for cooking and produce our own briquettes (waste to energy) to avoid firewood consumption.
Water management

-
We pay an important attention to water as Ruhija is not connected to the water supply network.

-
We harvest rainwater even if climate change is not helping.

-
We treat all our wastewater onsite.

-
We sensitize our guests on reasonable usage of water.
Waste management

-
We do our best effort to sort out our own waste, even if it is still a challenge in Uganda, especially plastic and we do a lot of prevention.

-
We do our own compost and produce briquettes from our biowastes.
Food production

-
We produce our own food (fruits, vegetables, spices, herbs, …) according to the season in our fresh garden.

-
The staff is trained to permaculture.

-
No chemicals.
Eco-design policy

-
We design, construct and operate low-impact Eco-lodge.

-
Our accommodations are all made with local materials (wood, grass, papyrus, river & volcanic stones...).
Community support

-
We feature sustainable building materials and offer authentic cultural experiences, such as learning about pygmies traditions, dances, and forest conservation practices.

-
We organize workshops with local artisans such as tailors, weavers, and farmers, where tourists can learn about traditional crafts and purchase handmade goods. This not only promotes cultural heritage but also helps generate income for local artisans.

-
Profits are shared among local community members, including pygmies, farmers, and artisans, to ensure equitable benefits from tourism.
