Working for a better balance between environmental conservation, wildlife protection, and sustainable development for Bwindi's communities.

Change A Life Bwindi (CALB) is a Ugandan Community Based Organisations (CBO) dedicated to improving the lives of communities in Bwindi (Rubanda District). Their goal is to achieve a balance between environmental conservation, wildlife protection, and sustainable development for Bwindi's communities.

CALB focuses on empowering local communities by providing them with the tools and knowledge to sustainably manage natural resources and improve their livelihoods. This includes initiatives such as:

  • Sustainable Livelihoods : Promoting alternative income sources to reduce dependency on natural resources and minimize human-wildlife conflict.

  • Climate Change Adaptation and Management : Implementing strategies to mitigate the impacts of climate change on local communities.

  • Environmental Conservation : Protecting the unique biodiversity of Bwindi, including its iconic mountain gorillas.

  • Education : Improving access to quality education, both formal and vocational, to enhance skills and opportunities.

  • Food Security : Supporting sustainable agriculture practices to ensure food security for local communities.

  • Human Rights : Promoting human rights and empowering marginalized groups.

  • Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene : Improving access to clean water and sanitation facilities.
